Any Major Dude With Half A Heart
Named after a Steely Dan song, but inspired by a need to mention Ben Folds sporaducally. This is a mixed bag of tricks, ranging from the very old (Wilhelm Deusing singing "Die Wacht am Rhein" in 1896) to latest releases. Any Major Dude enthuses about indie, folk-rock, alt.country, singer-songwriters, classic soul, but also loves pop and rock. Features include the occasional series on the "songbirds", nostalgic travels through the decades (year-by-year), "Pissing off the Taste Police", "Music for Bloggers", with a few bright ideas potentially cropping up in future.

Art for Art's Sake
Art for Art's Sake is a blog with a wide scope, but mainly covering Progressive Rock, Pop/Rock, and Classical Music. The blogger keeps things very well organized, by offering "Running series", providing categorization and ensuring fast reader's orientation on his blog site. Besides the music offered you'll find really beautiful and artistic photos, snippets on architecture, paintings, etc.
In the first place I frequent this blog for the very interesting writing about classical music. Art for Art's Sake provides several series on classical music, like "String Quartets", "Symphonic Poems", "Symphonies", and "Unusual Concertos". The posting principle is to promote works of lesser known composers or lesser known works from famous composers. I've really discovered and learned a lot there. Especially the "unusual concertos" are a lot of fun, as it's offering concertos with timpani, sitar, mandolin, accordion, or shakuhachi as their features instruments.

The Deuce Project: Sci-Fi Radio
The Deuce Project is a science fiction themed radio show that has been airing on an independent college station for about 7 years. We play music that involves references to science fiction, science, mathematics, or anything in that generally dorky flavor. The songs relate either via lyrics, band name, song name, album name, or sometimes just the general aesthetic of the song. Episode playlists and podcasts are posted weekly, along with band reviews and links to related material.

SPILL THE BEANZ - Where Art an Music Collide!
Welcome to Spill The Beanz with Java John...I'm a former acoustic music venue owner, Disc Jocky, and a rock n roll artist.
Spill the Beanz features mostly classic style folk and rock, from old timers and newcomers. But I love all types of music, so anything might show up!
There is also plenty of artwork, some concert photos & reviews, and even sometimes there will be some of my interviews.
Last year I interviewed a wide range of artists from Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie to Ian Gillan and Ray Manzarek. I've chatted with the artist who inspired me to draw - Peter Max (he painted my portrait!), and one of my earliest rock guitar heroes - Dave Davies. So expect more of the same.
ENJOY...and please let me know what you think.
Peace!
